Life Expectancy at Birth in Turkey is Increased (17 September 2020)
The life expectancy is a marker that used to measure the general health status of the population as one of the most important indicators of the health and well-being of society. It is an identifiable measure of the overall level of mortality (death) of a given population over a certain period of time. Life expectancy is defined as age-specific life expectancy, or the average number of years a person will live, and is used as an easy-to-understand indicator of the probability of dying at any age. The life expectancy at birth is the average number of years of a newborn is expected to live if he/she is exposed to age-specific mortality risks throughout his/her life, and shows the average number of years a person born in a given year will live.
Life expectancy at birth in Turkey is 78.6 years.
