The Elderly Health Report: Current Situation, Problems, Short and Medium-Term Solutions

The effects of the gradual increase in the elderly population in Turkey on health, social, cultural, and economic fields have led to an urgent requirement to make changes and regulations in policies and actions on elderly health and care. Therefore, based on the founding vision of the TUSEB Turkish Public Health and Chronic Diseases Institute (TÜHKE) and the tasks stated in the Eleventh Development Plan, a report on elderly health in our country has been prepared. 

In the aforementioned report, current approaches to the health and diseases of the elderly, the situation and problems in our country are presented and solutions are discussed.
In the preparation of this report, a large group consisting of a total of 147 representatives from public and private institutions dealing with elderly health including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Family and Social Services, Turkish Health Institutes Presidency, World Health Organization-Turkey, Red Crescent-Turkey, 25 universities, 19 NGOs (health professional associations) and the private sector took the task.
